Nearly 100,000 job vacancies: an opportunity to build a more prosperous Brussels Region

Brussels, 27 November 2025 – In Brussels, the job market is more vibrant than one might think. On the initiative of Beci and Partena Professional, and thanks to the analysis carried out with the start-up Beljob, nearly 100,000 job vacancies have been identified in the Region and its socio-economic area of influence. The figure is surprising not only for its size, but also for the diversity of the channels used for recruitment.

The research conducted with Beljob shows that the Brussels job market resembles an iceberg. The visible part consists of job advertisements published via Actiris, job search platforms or temporary employment agencies. The hidden part, however, is much larger: 'Job vacancies do exist, but they are often scattered and difficult to find. A growing proportion of them are now circulating on social media: the job market has changed,' says Maxime Bollengier, CEO of Beljob.

To obtain this snapshot, Beljob searched the internet and social media for all published job vacancies, using crawling techniques (a method that automatically scans the web on a large scale to extract content) and AI tools that apply language processing. After filtering and removing duplicates, 99,237 distinct advertisements were identified. ‘We transform signals that are often weak into a clear, dynamic and actionable map of the market,’ explains Maxime Bollengier.

The analysis shows that the employment situation in Brussels remains complex, but it also offers hope. Jobs are available, and some of them do not require a high level of education, which corresponds precisely to the profiles of a large proportion of people in Brussels who are currently unemployed.

The challenge now is to bring job seekers and job vacancies closer together, but also to motivate Brussels residents to relocate. Many vacancies are located in the suburbs of Brussels, where companies are actively recruiting. Job seekers need to be able to broaden their search area and receive appropriate support. With this in mind, Partena Professional and Beci, long-standing partners serving Brussels entrepreneurs, are joining forces to make this market more transparent and accessible.

Efforts to provide training for Brussels residents must also be continued, expanded and, above all, adapted to the needs of the current job market. Skills remain essential for finding employment.

‘Brussels has nearly 96,000 unemployed people, yet nearly 100,000 job vacancies have been identified. This does not mean that everything will automatically fall into place, but this figure should restore confidence. It shows that there is real potential. Our role is to encourage, guide and raise awareness of these opportunities,’ says Thierry Geerts, CEO of Beci.

Partena Professional CEO Roeland Van Dessel: 'Brussels entrepreneurs have energy and projects, but they sometimes lack visibility on the job market. By revealing the extent of the actual opportunities available, we are giving them a concrete lever to move forward. Clarifying these signals means supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening an ecosystem that is just waiting to prosper.'

The scale of the challenge requires us to combine our strengths, both private and public, and to act collectively. Beci, Partena Professional and Beljob each wish to contribute, in their own role, to making the Brussels job market more transparent and accessible, and are prepared to support those who wish to take on this challenge.
